« on: March 26, 2015, 10:22:40 PM »
Hi, I wrote a couple days ago that i was getting a weird error message after modding and my game wouldn't start, but now, post patch, it doesn't do anything at all when i try to play it. I have restarted the computer. Nada.

Hi MuffinW,

Could you please give more details, if you can on the problem you're having? Like what error code/message are you getting?  -- You can give the number before the colon. [For example Error 122:] is all that needs noted.

What do you mean the game won't start? As this problem has different answers.

I am experiencing the same problem. After the latest update and installation The Sims  is greyed out, as if i had already clicked "play". I have searched online for a solution and came across this solution on EA Answer

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/INFO-Games-not-opening-after-latest-Origin-update/td-p/4435504

However i have tried this and it isn't working for me. If you get a solution to this pleaseee let me know.

Hi Sosobaggins,

I'm not sure exactly why this is happening. But there are several troubleshooting tips to try.

01.) Deactivate Origin in Game

Open Origin, Select Origin > Application Settings > Origin In Game and deselect to disable Origin In Game.

02.) Log out of Origin. *If exiting Origin isn't working, open Task manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc) search for a file called ts4.exe. Click on it and select end process.

03.) Delete both game cache and Origin cache files

-- Delete Game Cache

-- Delete Origin Cache
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,21899.msg401663.html#msg401663

04.) Run Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download (Standard Edition is Free)
-- This helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used.

05.) Restart computer if you haven't in awhile. This helps to refresh the computer's memory.

---- Open Origin and log in to see if that has helped Sims be playable. If it's not, try repairing the game.

Right Click on the game and select Repair Game.

*See this post for more details on Repairing the Game.

Hope this helps, :)

When I click "play" in Origin, the mouse starts acting like it's going to open the game, but then it stops, and nothing happens. I have Origin disabled in the game, I've cleared my caches, I've tried "repair game" in Origin many times.

Hi Muffin,

Have you tried tip 2 and/or 3 from the tip thread linked below?

Sims 4 Play Button Greyed Out / Can't Play Game
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,21899.msg407386.html#msg407386
--

02.) Try playing the game in "Offline" mode -- In the Origin Client, go to the Origin Menu and select Go Offline.

03.) Start the game in Windowed mode by -- In the Origin Client, go to the My Games Tab, and right click on the Sims 4 Cover and select Game Properties - In the Command Line Arguments, add the following text: -w und and click Okay.

If the above doesn't work, please have a look at Crinrict's link below. It has more tips to try.

Sims 4 - Game won’t start

Finally got it running! I tried a "factory reset" and then going offline, and one of those finally worked. Thank you!!
