Science Opportunity - Wash Dishes

Hi, twice now my sim has gotten this opportunity to wash the 5 dishes that they place in her inventory. I have her wash them, but it doesn't recognize that she has done it. After washing them, it still says 0/5. Has anybody else had this?

Isn't that a Culinary opportunity? I have been able to complete this before.

I had a similar problem, except the dirty dishes didn't show up in my sim's inventory 'til two days later, after the opportunity expired.  In addition, this sim is not able to place any cooked food into the inventory...even 'Perfect' dishes, so I've been cancelling the opportunity just to make sure there aren't any punishments for not completing it.  :-\
