Sims 3 not loading with origin launcher

Hi, all,
I decided I was having withdrawal from my sims 3 witch family.  My game launches through origin.  when I click on the game to play, it spins for a couple seconds as normal but then doesn't load.  I really want to play my sims 3 ... help! how do I repair or get it to load?

I tried this method to bypass the origin launcher (http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=1186.0).  it didn't work in this situation.

Hi LA,

Thank you for sharing what you've tried. Still searching on the problem. - Trying to avoid suggesting a reinstall of Origin.

Another idea that came to mind is to clear the Origin Cache files

Edited to add:

Does this happen just with Sims 3 or is other games affected as well?

so far, all other games, i.e. Sims 4, are working fine.

I think I may have found something that maybe of help.

Game Won't Launch from Origin

There are a few steps you can take to prevent these launch errors. Close Origin, then try the following:

1.)   Run Origin as Administrator: Right-click the Origin icon on your desktop and select Run As Administrator. Restart Origin and try launching your game.

2.)   Temporarily disable anti-virus software that may be prohibiting Origin from being able to function properly. Restart Origin and try launching your game with the anti-virus off to see if that solves the issue. If so, you may need to adjust the settings of your anti-virus software to exclude Origin.

Hopefully this works.
