There is a thread about this bug, I'll merge this one with it.

The screenshot I showed before was my saved game list before I uninstalled the game. This is my game list after the re-install. If you uninstall through Origin, your save games remain as do all the things in your library even if you haven't uploaded them to the Gallery.

Thanks Twinmum, now I feel comfortable enough to reinstall.

EDIT: Reinstalled the game and the weird patch names are gone and all of my Sims are still there. Thank you to everyone for your help!

So when you uninstalled and reinstalled you didn't first remove your save file to your desktop or flash drive and your saves were still there?  When I have to do a reinstall I always remove and save my save file and just replace it after the reinstall.  Be nice if I didn't have to take that extra step.

No, I didn't move anything before I uninstalled. Not sure how it works if you uninstall from te control panel on the computer, that might remove save files, but uninstalling through the origin client doesn't affect the save files.

Crinrict has a solution without the reinstall for English language users only.  Found it here:

Hi TeeferTiger,

Sounds like you've come up against a common patch bug. Here's a link that will help with that.

OK, and does that solve the tutoring issue as well?

I am not sure about that. I made the Tutoring question into it's own topic in the Misc Help part of the forum. So hopefully it will get some answers.

From what I've been able to tell, this bug isn't quite fixed. Check this post from Crinrict for more tips.
