Last name change after marriage?

I just had my first in game Sim wedding and was just wondering why my Sims spouse last name didn't change. I did have them elope if that makes any difference, and I did create the proposee in CAS and moved him in later, but with a different last name.

It's just a mechanic of the game.  The spouse's name doesn't change.  You can change it yourself, but it will require a cheat: cas.fulleditmode on

Type that in before you go into CAS and you can change the name.

Thanks for the reply. Very odd that the last names won't change, but they did in TS2.

Yeah, just a quirk of this game.

I think maybe they should include an option to change it, not automatically, but like selecting a new name for a baby. I like that the name doesn't change because it reflects modernity. There are more people nowadays that don't change their last name after marriage.
