I posted this in the other gnome thread, but thought I should here too.

Here's what the Prima Guide says about the new gnomes:

The Celebrity magic gnome is sometimes found in the catacombs below the graveyard or inside ore and uncut rocks. This magic gnome loves to be placed near hot tubs, professional bars (on lots you own), and expensive vehicles. The Vampire magic gnome, on the other hand, only shows up if you have several Plasma Fruit in your garden. The exact required number changes all the time, so if you really want to see this gnome, make sure you have plenty of Plasma Fruits on your lot. The Vampire gnome is an adorable little fellow -- and if you happen to have a teddy bear on your lot, it loves to sneak up on the bear. The gnome may even turn the teddy bear into a vampire gnome!

I just noticed that it calls the vampire gnome a "fellow", despite its augmented assets.

Once again, the prima guide is wrong. According to the game's xmls, there's a 15% chance of a vampire gnome spawning if there are 3 plasma fruit bushes in your yard.

I get my gnomes from fishing; the first one in the cemetery pool while fishing for the deathfish.  The second one is weird. It's a gnome wearing an all white costume. I think the Sim also got it from fishing. What is this all white gnome? It hasn't moved around so far as decor in the garden.

The all white gnome is just a regular garden decoration, not a mysterious gnome.  Only the mysterious gnomes will move from place to place and pose to pose.

I had a vampire gnome turn up after my sims started growing plasma fruit.  I had read the above quote about the teddy bears, so I put a teddy bear down hoping to see the gnome sneaking up on the bear.  Next time I looked, the bear was gone.  Does that mean the gnome "turned" the bear or ate it or what?  Very strange.

I did the same thing. I didn't see any sneaking or stalking or biting but I suddenly had 2 vampire gnomes and no more teddy bear.

The Vampire Gnome circled in red was my little bear from China.  One minute it was there and the next I had another gnome.  Freaky!

I saw one of my bears turn - the usual puff of orange smoke, like when a gnome moves, and the bear was a gnome.

Also, this is one way to make a little extra money gardening, once you can plant plasma fruit. A $50 bear turned into a $1000 gnome is a nice profit - not one to rely on, but it's not bad for a little boost when it happens. I made about three or four thousand extra buying bears and selling them when they turned.

Lol!  Now THAT is a true entrepreneurial spirit!  I think I might give that a shot.  More fun than farming death fish.  I hate vampires but I must admit the vampire gnomes are adorable.  Wonder if they can turn humans?

I actually got the teddy bear turning into a vampire gnome on video, it is short, but it was really funny to actually see it happen and get a shot of it.  Just click on the screenshot. :)

Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?
