Tech Guru Career Stuck On level 4

If anyone can help please? I am stuck at level 4 in the Tech Guru Career. I already tried the cheat listed here and Typed Careers.promote X nothing happened? Typed Careers.promote TechGuru and Careers.promote 5 but I am still stuck and have been stuck now for two sim weeks with no promotion. Everything is completed and I'm going into work with my stats up.  So far no cheating and working my sim bum off and can't get to level 5 again. Maybe I am typing in the cheat wrong? Not even sure what level 5 in the Tech career is called. Please if anyone can help! The cheats are enabled I can use the mailbox cheat so I have no clue as to what I am doing wrong.

Welcome to our Forum, MrsTragicClown.  Did you enable testingcheats?  Also have you thought about leveling the career without cheating?  Reach programming level 4 and mod 2 games is really easy.

1) CTRL + SHIFT + C (opens up cheat console)
2) type testingcheats true (hit enter on keyboard)
3) type careers.promote TechGuru (hit enter on keyboard)

Thank you for responding so fast! It's enabled I testing it on the mailbox and that worked to alter needs. When I try entering testingcheatsenabled on it says Cheats are enabled.  I have modded games, made games and apps. My current work due is gameplay which is and says completed. I am also going to work Focused which is the ideal mood. 

What's funny about all this is that I got to level 10 before without cheating and low skills And now that I quit and went back I am..... stuck!? :0  

I just read on your other thread that I can't change branches so, no point in going back now knowing that! It's a good thing I read that or I would have really messed things up. Sims2 you could get all the goodies with one sim! Maybe some nice person could mod this.

You don't get a boss or co-workers in ts4 like in ts3. You need to meet sims out in the world to find someone to be social with.

I changed my Aspiration to Computer Whiz and to complete this I need to reach level 5 in the tech Guru career. It was bookworm when I reached level 10 in Computer Guru before. Now, I tried the cheat again. Typed in careers.promote TechGuru and hit enter but nothing happened? I am still at level 4? Am I allowed to change Aspirations as I did? Might that be the problem?

Going to attempt to add a pic here never did it before so I hope this works. Nvm says... AspirationsComputerWhiz.png. You cannot upload that type of file. The only allowed extensions are sims3pack,mp3,mp4,zip,rar.

I've over completed everything for Computer Whiz Aspiration. So, I'm not understanding why unless me changing Aspirations is the reason.

I'd like to complete Computer Whiz Aspiration also if possible.

Did you quit TechGuru after you hit level 10?  Not sure why the cheat is not working for you, I just tested it and it works fine.  Maybe you have a buggy game file, maybe changing aspirations messes up your game. 

If you don't mind using cheat, you can just use cheat to complete that aspiration too.

Yes Nutella I reached level 10 in the TechGuru Career and then quit. I Gained more skill and went back. I didn't realize you could not do all branches and be stuck with just one. Honestly I would rather work for it but in this case I used the cheat aspirations.complete_current_milestone and got my computer whiz!!! So ty! And I have no idea why careers.promote TechGuru cheat will not work for me. All the other cheats I've tried are working except for that one. Yep could be a bug of some sort! Doesn't make sense. And Tyvm for your help! I would respond sooner but this site is very slow for some odd reason. It takes forever for me to be able to respond?  I got my Computer Whiz so thanks! What to do next I don't know because we are stuck with this one branch only

weird that you're at level 4 if you 10 previously, the game usually doesn't let you go back behind the choose a branch part and for tech I think it's 6... that's probably why you're having an issue.

Not sure if this is what's causing your issue, but you posted the cheat you typed in was testingcheatsenabled, that is from TS3, for TS4 its testingcheats.  (No enabled on the end).  Maybe that was the problem?

I have the same problem as the OP.  I return to TechGuru career to complete the Computer Wiz aspiration but couldn't get promote from level 4.  I tried the cheats many times but it didn't work.  When I switch career and came back at lower level the cheats work to promote my sims from level 3 to level 4 but it didn't work afterward.  It was as if the game use the level 10 content with level 4 description.  There wasn't any requirements to get promote in the career tab as well. 

This problem had been reported on the official bug report forum.

So I think we are screwed in the meantime.
