Writing royalties - career bug?

One of my Sims is a professional author, and is registered at City Hall. It's currently Sunday in Sunset Valley and he just received his royalty cheque. He is currently making $2,265 per week in royalies, but this amount is not being added to the amount made in the career panel (which states he has made a total of $1,981), only in the skill panel.

I forsee significant problems getting him past level 5 or 6 in this career. Is this a bug or does this happen to everyone?

That is how it happens.  Royalties don't go towards your promotion.  There is a thread somewhere here on the forum where it was discussed, but I wasn't able to find it.

I couldn't find the thread, either.  It's like gerrr00 said...  royalties don't go toward the writing profession.  It only counts the money you earn while writing the book and when you finish it.  It's not a bug; it's just the way it works.
