Starting Over?
« on: September 29, 2014, 11:00:24 AM »
I won't be buying The Sims 4 for several reasons (not the least of which is that I'm a Mac owner and the game isn't available for Macs) but I really miss the feeling of getting a whole new game and starting from scratch.

Has anyone considered uninstalling everything and then playing the vanilla game, and then slowly adding the stuff and expansion packs back in? I kind of want to do it, but I'm not sure how that would work what with patches and whatnot. Has anyone done that? Did it work out okay?

I've actually done this, and it's very rewarding, especially if you have things left in the game that you haven't discovered yet.

I need to buy the games all over again because when we moved, I lost my discs (and therefore serial numbers), so I can't play them. But this is how I intend to do it, to give it that feeling of freshness.

I'm loving TS4, and personally prefer it over TS3, but I'm also generally a Mac user and was disappointed that there was no Sims 4 for the Mac.

There are things you can do to make a Mac play Sims 4. I'm sure you could get some help with that on our Technical board.

If you want to go back to just the base game you could do this without having to uninstall everything first!

There is a program called the game selector, which allows you to choose which EPs and SPs should be active at any time (the game hides the others from the computer by some magic and you could play a base game quite easily this way, while still having it installed). I have used this to switch between a game where I wanted to focus more on one particular EP.
