Friendship Status Glitch(?)

Have any of you notice how you become best friends and then all of a sudden you become acquaintance in a blink of an eye and then yer like......huh?!?  What just happen here?!?  I've seen it twice.  Once with no flirting at all or using any flirting commands and the second is to my gf with another good friend who happens to be another female but is also married and I never made any romantic moves towards her either.  Just kept it on the up n up.
