Problem with secondary buildings on one lot
« on: September 06, 2014, 10:01:20 PM »
I've been putting a grand house together and I wanted to put a small secondary building that served as a shack/man cave/mother-in-law extension.  However laying it out automatically gives it the same large foundation and tall walls of the main structure when all I want is a little ground level frame.  Has anyone found a way to do this, or are we stuck with *one* foundation level and wall height for the whole lot?

At the moment, I think we are stuck with the same foundation and wall height across the block. With a bit of luck, they will include a fix or a cheat that will allow differences in different parts of your buildings. I was hoping to have a room in the middle of the house with high walls and windows at the top, surrounded by rooms with lower walls... oh well, I'm learning to make do for now.

bother.  I was hoping I was just *missing* something.  I do hope they fix that, multiple buildings on one lot should be independent of each other for construction.

I can confirm, you can only have 1 foundation height per lot. Not sure if there is a way to cheat this yet or not.

I did see a tutorial for making a split level foundation house - that could work, after a fashion. I don't know that you could place a door in the foundation part of the wall though.

No, the split level is only using the foundation and removing the floor in it. You can't add doors or windows in the lower section.

Actually, you can place windows in the lower section.
