Where's my Simbot!?

So I've been playing the Sims 3 for a short time now and I've decided to make a character with an ultra high tech house. Before I could do that, I wanted to buff up his stats by giving him lots of lifetime reward points. When I scrolled down, I saw that there was the "My Best Friend" option and I was like "GOOD GOD I HAVE TO HAVE THAT!"

The issue is, when I go to click the purchase button, the screen lags for a moment and then nothing happens. The option is still there but I can't purchase it. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there any way I can fix it?

When I purchased that reward, the simbot was added to my household (after that little lag you mentioned).  Since s/he becomes a member of the family, do you have room for an additional household member?
