Mood bar glitch?
« on: August 18, 2014, 02:09:41 AM »
Everytime I play the sims 3, I noticed my sims' mood steadily rising over time, even if there's no positive moodlet. After playing for 2 hours or more, my sims' mood state will be elated forever until I quit and load the game again. Even -200 moodlet from being on fire can't lower my sims' mood. This glitch is not applied to pets, however, and will disappear if I used resetsim cheat, but will appear again nonetheless.
I know this is a good thing, but it makes me feeling uncomfortable. I only use nraas mod. Is there any way to play without this glitch?

It's related to the good night's sleep they get from a good bed. For some reason the game stacks the moodlets over time instead of getting rid of them properly. The opposite is true if they use a cheap bed with the negative moodlet. If you restart the game their moods will go back to normal.

There are a few things you can do to avoid this problem. The simplest way is probably to interrupt your sim's sleep before they get the well rested moodlet. You could also have them sleep in alternative places, such as in a tree house, sleeping bag, or igloo. Supposedly, the beds that give a +20 well rested moodlet don't have this glitch, but in my game they do. The glitch has to do with how the game responds to the well rested moodlet expiring. For some of the beds, it takes away more mood than it gave out, and for others it doesn't remove as much positive mood as it should. Resetting your sim works (but only after the moodlet expires) because their moods are recalculated.

I have tested this by having my sims sleep on cheap bed, dream pod, sleeping bag, and WA tents. Yes, beds that give moodlet after waking up with full energy will stack over time, while non-moodlet ones won't affect the mood bar at all for the rest of play. Thanks for the enlightenment!
