Paparazzi gate mailbox placement?

Hello I'm new! This site is amazing for Sims info so I have been reading it a while, but haven't found an answer to this...
I've read forum posts about the celebrity gate from Late Night to keep paparazzi at bay and that works great.  However, I moved my sims from a large lot to a smaller one and there's far less edge around the house. If I put the celebrity gate on the property edge and have the mailbox and garbage can inside will they still work? 
EDIT: I cannot put the gate in the small space I have either way, but I'm still curious what happens if those items are inside the gate.

Hi dubukat, you'll have no problem with the garbage can as it's only your own sims that use that. I usually move mine to somewhere on the lot that I find easy to use. I tend to drag my sims plates etc to the bin rather than let them clean it all up as it saves time.
I don't know for sure about the letterbox, if it doesn't work you will see the mailman complaining that he/she can't get to the mailbox or you'll see the bills lying on the ground outside your gate. Either way it isn't a game breaker so give it a go and see what happens.
And yes, this site is totally amazing for gameplay info!
