Installing all Sims 3 & its eps/sps to new laptop (windows 8.1)
« on: January 05, 2015, 09:05:53 AM »
Umm hello again and wish you all happy 2015!!  :D

hope it is ok to create a new post about my prob, but was unable to find any other useful info to help me ... In case i missed something at somewhere pls let me know, sorry for bother!

This year my hubby bought me a new laptop(info as blw) with help/guidance of  Flynn & MrsFlynn..

System Manufacturer & System Model: Lenovo Y5070 IntelCore i7 4710HQ 2.5GHz / 3.5GHz 16GB 1TB 15.6"
Processor: IntelCore i7 4710HQ 2.5GHz / 3.5GHz (6 MB Cache)
Hard Driver: 1 TB 5400 RPM
RAM: 16 GB installed RAM (1600 MHz DDR3, supports up to 16 GB)
Operating System: Windows 8.1
---------------
Display Devices
---------------
Display Card name: Intel HD Graphics 4600 integrated
Graphic Card : NVidia Geforce GTX 860M 4 GB
Primary Optical Drive: Dual-Layer DVD+/-RW
---------------
Screen : 15,6" /1920x1080 /full HD

My problem;

I downloaded/installed origin & updated it without problem.

All my games are in CD Form, therefore installed Sims 3 base game without problem by CD.
When i opened launcher asked me the update and it updated successfully to "1.67..."
than made store patches..

And i opened a new game, tested Sims 3 CAS, and play 1 sim day without problem so saved and quit.. no problems till now

I changed some options to highest and some of them medium... made game resolution as screen resolution.. than in order not to have issue went to Intel Control panel and add 1sims 3" there and choose "high performance"...

still no problems sooo i decided to install eps & sps... in good/published order..
Picked WA and installed it without trouble... but when i open sims 3 launcher (in WA icon) , it says there is an update and i click "ok" but it never "updates"...nothing happens first, when i click install it says it is running.. but nothing running(checked through task manager) and when i re-click it says "cannot reach EA Download manager"... O.o"

What does it mean? Should i ignore it and try to play? I believed that after installing base game, it updated till last patch.. :/

Also sometimes when i click open launcher,it gives "script error" always no#4.. through it doesnt effect me at all, i click "close" button and game goes on without problem..

Can these two things be related? :-\

I know it is very long and detailed..but didnt want to miss any step i did as it might be related/help to solve this situation...  :-[

Thanks in advance  :)

Hi Missyangel,

To fix the update problem, you may want to run FordGT90Concept's patcher (http://modthesims.info/d/409829) once you get the rest of the ep/sp installed. It will install the patches for the earliest games that got left out of the super patch.

As for the script error, I don't think there's really any fix for it, but it doesn't affect the game, so it can be safely ignored.

Hope this helps, :)

Hello Mrs Flynn :)

Thanks for the info, i donot use mods in sims but this one looks different! Is it ok to delete this problem after updating all patches?

Also is it possible to see if patches are done or not..Where can we see them in our Sims 3 Folder?

Yesterday evening, i decided to try to play WA to see if there is a mistake or glitch... and took my sim to China for 3 days..played the advantures there but havent noticed any glitch :) soo i let it go for the time being! ;) but will try FordGT90Concept's patcher later :)

then i installed high-end stuff pack, patched it successfully..then installed Ambitions, patched successfully! :) But havent try the game yet! will try tonite hopefully! :)

Also decided to ignore "script error" again :) it is indeed harmless! :)

Thank you for the advise!  :D

FordGT90Concept's patch isn't a mod. It's a patch to help the game run better. Think of it as it will help you have less problems with the launcher bugs. We use it every time we do a fresh install of Sims 3.

I am not sure if it's possible to see if patches are installed or not. We just patch using the super patch and/or FordGT90Concept's patch and know that things will be good to go.

Yes, you can definitely ignore the script error and things will be fine. The other night I was playing Sims 3 and kept getting that error each time I'd pop out of the game to go search on something. But to be fair, I was using open launcher each time. The game doesn't handle that very well.
