Placing Doors Causes Saving Issue
« on: July 27, 2014, 01:49:00 PM »
Just installed the game and all it's expansion and stuff packs on an excellent new computer.

I come across an issue where, after successfully saving this file multiple times, saving continues on forever. I give it time, thinking it's nothing out of the ordinary, but after an hour the game is still saving.

I go into the saves folder in The Sims 3 folder, find that my original file that should be under "saves" is gone. This issue seems to have corrupted the file, causing the game to delete it!

I decide to investigate, so I make my game again and do everything as I had done before, it saves fine repeatedly, and then suddenly I have that same issue again. I notice it occurred after I had accessed build/buy mode to place some stuff for my sim.

So I re-make a file and go through, adding each object I added before to see what exactly triggers the eternal-saving issue. After placing a door from Ambitions (it's called "A simple door" or something like that, it's the cheapest door in the game), I have the saving issue again. So the problem is with the door. I test it out a few more times, making sure the issue is with the door. It happens again, saving never ends after placing that door. I then try saving after placing a different kind of door, and the issue happens again. So the issue appears after trying to place any door at all.

Again, each time this eternal-saving thing happens, the file I am trying to save gets deleted within the saves folder.

I have no idea how to fix this, I've tried factory reset and that hasn't fixed it. This is a bizarre issue that renders the game unplayable because I have to place doors at some point! I have lots of Nraas mods and the Ultimate Careers mod by Zerbu, none of them conflict, and I have lots of Store Content and one third party skin. I have tried to run the game without CC and the issue persists.

Any ideas what I could do to fix this?

Welcome to our Forum.

I believe I've heard of this problem.  It's actually a technical issue, so I'm moving your thread to the Technical Help board.  You should be able to find some help there.

Remove all your mods.  Start a fresh game and go through the same thing of placing doors and trying to save.  See if the problem persists.  If it doesn't, you have a problem with a mod.

If that is the case, I would add one mod back at a time, starting with all the Nraas mods.  Go through the same process of trying to duplicate the error.  Keep going until you duplicate it.  You should have identified the problem mod at that point.

If it duplicates without any mods present, then someone else will need to help with that error.

Thanks, that worked. Turned out to be a store fix that I put in the wrong place.

No problem.  Am glad you found the issue.  A lot of times it's a trial and error process of elimination. :)

Hmm... I think I should try this. Sounds like it's the same problem I have. I think.
