To be honest, I'd use it anyway. It's not a gameplay-changing mod in any way at all.

If I use a mod, then my dynasties won't be HoF eligible. So I can't use them.

I'd ask about it. At the end of the day, it's just a NoCD mod... which doesn't actually alter how the game plays in any way, shape or form.

I doubt they'd have an issue with using a crack, so I really don't see why it'd be an issue. If it is, then that's just being pedantic.

Just had another idea.

Look up CD drive emulation. I can't give specifics as it technically circumvents copy protection, but it would work and doesn't count as a mod to Sims 3, so your save file would still be valid for HoF :)
