Game did factory reset?
« on: June 24, 2014, 12:02:56 PM »
It would appear that my game factory reset itself but the problem is it didn't create a new Sims 3 folder and all my old stuff is in the old folder but doesn't show up in the game? I am really confused by this and have no idea how to fix this! My daughter was playing on it so she may have done something but I don't know what. She is only 8 and doesn't really know how to do anything so I don't think she could have done anything major. Any help? Also how do I know what setting I should set the screen resolution too inside of the game? Is there somewhere on my computer that will tell me what is suggested or anything. I am running a Mac! Thank you!

I'm not a mac user, so I have no idea what the folders are called...

If all your stuff is in your old folder, then copy it over. Saves, mods and CC should all be fine to copy over, so should "installed worlds". I'd do it all one at a time. There should also be a file called "option" in your old folder. If you copy that across, your game will run at it's old resolution.

Failing that, I always just set my resolution to the absolute max the game says I can have.

That's the problem I have there is no new folder just the old one with everything on it but it doesn't show up in my game. So I don't know how to get it back.

So make a new one, or rename the old one.

I tried to rename the old one and start up the game again but it didn't make a new one.

I'm confused, are you *trying* to do a factory reset? Because your post said it was already done. What exactly is the problem? What do you see that is wrong?

I am not trying to do one! My game somehow reset all of it's settings but in my Sims 3 folder it still shows all my saves and downloaded content as being there but in the game nothing! I have no downloads and no saves. I am not sure what happened but there isn't a new folder for the Sims that I can find. I tried to get a new folder to appear so I could copy everything over to it to see if that would fix the problem but I couldn't get one to come up.
