Sims 3 Starter Pack from Origin will not Install

I have honestly tried everything and I just bought Sims 3 Starter Pack with the base game along with 'High End Lot Stuff' and 'Late Night' Expansion packs from Origin yesterday. I'm getting frustrated. I reinstalled everything after it didn't work the first time and tried to rename the files because of this information:

but it didn't work, because every time I press 'set up' the set up installer comes up and the only thing it asks me is to accept the terms of agreement. Then, it "updates" the game and then never installs. I have also cleared out my computer using CC and I even cleared out all of the Sims folders and items before reinstalling it again. I thought it was going to work this time, but apparently not. I have looked up many solutions to this and a lot of them were asked two years ago. If this isn't fixed by now, it's silly.
 
I'm getting really irritated because I've spent 32 dollars on this and I need it to work. If someone could help me out, I would very much appreciate it. I'm also on a Windows 8 computer.

You say you just bought the game? Has it ever properly installed and launched at all?

Yeah. I've had the hard copy of the actual disk uploaded and installed on my computer before, so I know that it would work, but it wasn't my copy of the game. I thought it would be easier to just do this so I could have the game for myself. I can't find just the base game in stores. It was always this starter pack, so I thought it would be fine to use origin, but it just downloads and doesn't install. Not sure what to do.

Ok, see if I understand this correctly. You borrowed hard disks of the game and they worked fine. Then you purchased your own game digitally through Origin. You uninstalled the disk version of the game and then tried to install the digital version? I'm not on my computer at the moment, so I wasn't able to view the link you posted. I should be able to look at it shortly.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. And thank you so much. I would appreciate any kind of feedback you could come up with.

Wow, I just read through the comments on the link over on the official forum that you provided.  Have you already tried a complete uninstall/reinstall of the current digital version of the game that you have?  Or have you only done the uninstall on the old disk version?  That would be my first suggestion.  I would also suggest that you do a manual uninstall because sometimes the computer's Control Panel program doesn't get everything.  In fact, you should take a look at all of our installation threads while you're there.

We have more technical minded people here than me, and I'm hoping that someone will be by here soon who can actually give you more and better help than I can.

I have tried the manual uninstall/reinstall and it loaded more properly, but it was still giving me the same thing in the setup where it only when to the 'accept terms and agreement' and then it says it's updated my game. It never loads or asks me to do a custom install. If all else fails, I might try it again.

Dellena, I watched the video and tried to do that, as well, but as I said just a second ago, it was still doing the 'accept terms and agreement' but nothing else. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

This is probably impatient of me, but I decided to request a refund because this is ridiculous and I'm going to order the hard disk copy or find it in a store! Thanks for all your help and I'll be back if I have more problems!
