ADVENTURE: Tombs: When not to Raid.
« on: June 25, 2011, 04:26:29 PM »
I got an adventure and I stupidly said yes.  The adventure requires me to (in this order) become Torched (on fire.), become Soaked, and Cursed.
I don't like to start something and then say no. I already found out how to remove the curse so that's no problem. Now, which is the best tomb pyramid to do this?
Do not include the Great Sphinx, or The Pyramid of Burning Sands. (It was a mistake!) I disarmed all the traps.
Never Mind, I figured it out!

For those who haven't; I just completed this in the Great Pyramid. It does take a long time to explore but it has everything you need: lots of fire traps, a nice steam trap for your Sim to get soaked in and several mummies.
The Sphinx would work too, you might need to torch your Sim somewhere else though (that sounds a little wrong...).

Never was able to complete that because my sim beat up all the mummies and I couldn't get her cursed.

I never took on this adventure before for that same reason. I always heard other people could never seem to get cursed.
I guess you can try saving just before encountering a mummy, then if the Sim doesn't get cursed you can reload to try and get a different outcome to the fight.

This went surprisingly well for me. Even though my Sim has the lucky trait she got torched in the first fire trap she tried to cross and cursed by the second mummy she met. Actually that is pretty lucky.

If you don't mind cheating (or if it is allowed by challenge rules, if you're playing one), you can "force" the curse. When in a pyramid (the Sphinx, for example), and if your Sim didn't get cursed even if he/she doesn't have Athletic or Martial Arts (or is in the lower levels), you can spawn a mummy yourself, right there. Just Shift+Click on the ground (you have to have testing cheats enabled of course), choose 'Buy on This Lot' (or 'Build on This Lot'). Afterward, Ctrl+Shift+Click on the sarcophagus, choose something like "Spawn Mummy" and choose one of the options. Have your Sim open the sarcophagus again. Do this continuously and your Sim will eventually get cursed. Even if it feels wrong to do, or to say, so.
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

It has been a long time since I played with mummies so I looked in my notes.  The Bottled Mummy's Curse, which your Sims can either mix or buy, turns either themselves or another Sim into a mummy.  The only way to get cursed is to breathe in the vapor from the mummy.

The basic problem with this adventure is that it does not become available until Visa Level 2 or 3. If your sim gains visa levels via tomb raiding  then by the time the adventure is available to him/her your sim will have leveled up in athletic by pushing around all those statues and clearing rubble. If you sent your sim to China to study Martial Arts the problem is even worse. I exhausted every available mummy (without cheats) in Egypt and in France but could never get cursed.
