Toddlers and toddler books
« on: April 10, 2014, 05:33:35 PM »
I have a toddler, and I have all the toddler skill books, but she can't read them. I can select them, choose the Read interaction, but even when the books are in the same room, she can't reach them. I get the "no path" symbol, and the action disappears. I've tried resetting the toddler, I've even quit and restarted. I've moved the books into different locations. But none of it helps! It's only a problem with the books, not the pegs or the xylophone.

You need someone of an older age to read them with her. You use the other aged sim, click on the book, and select read with (toddlers name).

Toddlers can read the books on their own, my toddler just read all the writing skill books by herself. Did this ability come with Generations or was it always there? Maybe someone else can answer that. Anyway, make sure there's plenty of room around the books. If you have to, delete the books and repurchase, and try again.

Just to clarify, you do put the books on the floor for the toddlers to read, right?

Yes I do. But the toddler just cannot seem to reach them. Other things, yes, but not the books.

Toddlers have always been able to read the toddler books since the start of Sims 3.  It wasn't added with Generations or anything.

You have to drag the toddler book to the floor, then click on it with the toddler.  You'll get the read option.  As KRae said, there has to be room around the book for the toddler to get to it.  Do try deleting and re-purchasing the books and let us know if that helps.

The problem so far as I could tell was in the design of the pre-built house I'd been using. Every sim in it seemed to glitch or bug when it came to pathfinding, the books being only the most extreme example.
