Computer mouse is WAY too sensitive

So, my mouse keeps double and triple clicking when I try to use it in game.  For instance, when I try to close out one of the message boxes in the upper right hand corner, it closes three or four of them.  When I click and object or a Sim for interactions, it will often go ahead and assign an interaction I did not even get a chance to see.  Is there an easy fix for this?  Until I got my new computer, all I had was lag and freezing! I guess this is a good problem to have!!

Try updating your mouse's drivers, either through Device Manager (Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Mice and other pointing devices) or through the website of your mouse's manufacturer or other places on the web found through searching for your mouse's model and drivers.

I have to agree with trip 100% to check your drivers for your mouse. If that doesn't work feel free to come back to us here and we'll troubleshoot some more.

I tried updating the driver as per your instructions (thank you, by the way, because it would have taken me FOREVER to find that).  It says my software is up to date, but after I went through the process it all seems to be working better.  Hopefully that solved the issue!  Thanks so much!!

I spoke too soon.  I'm still having great difficulty with my mouse clicks. Any other suggestions? It seems to be fine outside of the game.  It's an old Dell mouse - probably 7 or 8 years old.  Would that matter?

If your using Windows you might try going to the Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Mouse and setting the mouse double click speed to a slower setting and see if the helps.
It could also be your mouse just getting wore out.

None of that makes a difference in game, so I guess I'll try a new mouse!!  Thanks so much for the help!
