Writing career bugged?

With my Dynasty sim needing to reach level 10 of their career before they can eat ambrosia, I'm not sure this would be a good career track to take on if it takes that long to get to the top.

Well the writer in question was a Hopeless Romantic, Bookworm, Neurotic, which helped a lot, the royalties from romances add up fast. Thank you though.
