Can't produce Tiberium
« on: October 25, 2013, 10:46:19 PM »
I have read in the Transfiguration section that the price range for Tiberium is 3500 to 4999 simoleans. I tried following that and put the following items in the Carter's display:

Rainbow Gem (Marquis Cut) --- 1469
Luminorious Gem (Brilliant Cut) --- 759 x 2
Turqoise (Star Cut) --- 260
Yellow Sapphire (Star Cut) --- 192
Lapis Lazuli (Star Cut) --- 84
Jade (Crystal Ball Cut) --- 416
TOTAL: 4051

All I got after transfiguration was a Large Yellow Sapphire. What did I do wrong?

They are all gems. So what is made is based on the rules for gems only.

To get the tiberium, you need to mix and match between the categories and then have the total value between 3500 and 4999. I usually mix and match some combination of gems and metals. Or also putting a space rock in with seven of either one of those types is supposed to work as well.

You won't always get what you want the first time.  Sometimes you have to try it several times before getting the desired results.

You are using too many different gems, you will have a very high chance of getting large cut.  Here is the rule for tiberium:

1) Don't use more than 4 different gems.
2) Don't use more than 4 different cuts.
3) Always mix in some metals (usually 2-3 works well).  Very important, if you don't mix in metals, you will always end up with large cut, soulpeace, or skull cut.

As long as you don't fill up all eight slots (or ten on the other display) with all gems or all metals, and have the right total value range, you should get tiberium. In my game, this happens every time.

It does not matter if you use seven identical items so long as one item is from a different group.   At far as I am aware, there are four groups:
  • Gems
  • Metals
  • Meteors
  • Relics

So, there is no reason why you should not use seven common relics and one gem or metal or meteor.
By the same reasoning, you could use seven oval cut rubies and one meteor.  Etc.

The only thing that you must ensure is that you have a combination valued between 3,500 and 4,999 and that you have at least two groups represented.

I find this is a useful way of using up common relics and an excess of emerald cut gems.   Use a number of items of similar and high value (example: 3 valuable gems adding up to 3,500) then you make up the remaining five slots with five bits of "junk". This makes counting easy!

(Metals may be best transfigured into higher value metals first.  Example, place two pieces of medium or high value metal of the same type in the first slot, then fill up the remaining seven slots with seven pieces of low value metal (one per slot).  This should produce one high value piece, one medium and possibly one piece of iron.  The result is not entirely random, but, to try to list the most likely outcome is a big ask.  However, you almost invariably end up with more value than you put in.)
“In this world, there is nothing softer or thinner than water. But to compel the hard and unyielding, it has no equal. That the weak overcomes the strong, that the hard gives way to the gentle -- this everyone knows. Yet no one asks accordingly.”
