Art Multiplier
« on: September 10, 2010, 04:48:54 PM »
I'm not entirely sure if this is accurate, but i think that your art value is multiplied by your skill level when handing it in for an oppertunity. I just completed an oppertunity (Deliver $450 worth of paintings to Hogan's Deep Fried Diner). The painting I submitted was large, and worth $672. I was paid $5276. When you divide $5376 by $672, you get 8, which happens to be the skill level of my Artist.

Like I said, it's not concrete, but it'd be good to try and see if it's true. I'm going to see what I get for any more oppertunities to see if it is right.

Interesting observation, Kaitlin.  I've always wondered how the amount of the payment was determined.  If you find out any more, please keep us posted.

Painting opportunities are just crazy good, aren't they? The ones where you have to deliver like 10 or 15 paintings can earn a Sim a couple hundred thousand if you're smart and only take Brilliants/Masterpieces. Tack on the opportunistic reward and it really can be an amazing payday.

Before Ambitions, my painters all used to get rich doing those opportunities where they have to take in 10 or 15 paintings.  But since installing Ambitions, those big painting opportunities hardly ever come along.  I sure miss them.

I just got the "Painting the City" Oppertunity! Yes!

I'm going to paint Large Paintings and try to only take Brilliants and Masterpieces. I'll keep you guys posted on how much I earn from it, and how the multiplier works out :)

Okay I finished that opportunity. I had 9 Masterpieces, and 6 Brilliant paintings. All were Large. In total, they were worth $36,254. For completing the opportunity I received $290,032. I was at level 10 in Painting, had the Opportunistic reward and Extra Creative. I divided again and got 8, once again. I think opportunistic must make it 8, since I also had it the first time. Without Opportunistic, it will probably be 4, or 6. But I can say with certainty that the multiplier for a Painting Opportunity is 8 with this reward :)

Paintings do Appreciate by the skill level you have though. At level 8, they went up by $8 per day. At level 10, they went up by $10 each day.

That's awesome, Kaitlin. Incidentally, the Extra Creative reward has no impact on the money received from an opportunity, but it obviously had impact on how many of those paintings turned into Brilliant and Masterpiece, So, indirectly, it does.

On a different, but related note, I think I've read that Aria likes choosing Lucky for her painters. Nothing I've read on the internet tells me that that trait has any benefit on paintings turn out Brilliant or Masterpiece. And I've done serious searching.

I'm not sure if the same goes for painting but when one time a sculptor Sim of mine went to the museum and came home with the inspired moodlet which lasted two hours, I made a topiary in that time and it came out as a masterpiece, I'm not sure if it was coincidence since Ive only done it once but they could be linked.

I'm not sure that lucky has much to do with painting, although I still like it for other reasons.  I think that it does help with catching fish, my lucky sims catch more fish in shorter periods of time.  At least it seems like they do, I haven't done any serious testing.

On one of my Legacies I had a painter who TWICE got the opportunity to bring paintings to the museum and get an increase in her future paintings value!  That one is hawt!
