Permission to rant when things don't go my way...
« on: February 05, 2014, 01:12:27 PM »
Not a mean or hateful one rant. Just an annoyed one. Let me explain my current family.

Maria is a werewolf. She completed her Alchemy lifetime wish, but she became lonely. So, she adopted a child and named him Timothy. They moved from Moonlight Falls to Hidden Springs when he grew into a young adult (He also became a witch). There, while she is still single and started a job in the Military, Timothy met and married Francisca (AKA runaway/Human).

This is where the "don't go my way" thing starts. I tried over and over again for them to "try for baby", but I promise, I never heard the bells. So, they adopted a baby girl and named her Andrea (Human). I kid you not, as soon as the baby became part of the family, Francisca got the nausea moodlet. So, I was all like "shoot, I only wanted them to have one kid..." But she had the baby and named her Taylor (Born witch). First time one of my sims ever had a girl without the watermellon/apple trick. They aged up about 3 days apart.

The Imaginary Friend thing is where it annoyed me. The IM worked well entertaining the toddlers after they were taught everything (walking, talking, using the john). Thing is, only Taylor became friends enough with "Patches" to get the opportunity to "Make Friend Real". It's a good thing they're rich. Anyway. Now, they're all teenagers, and prom just finished. I was trying SO HARD to get Taylor and Patches to become "romantically involved". However. At prom, without me being able to control anything inside... "Andrea has become romatically involved with Patches!". This was me ---->  ??? then this ----> >:( then finally this ---->  :'(

Could it have anything to do with the fact Patches became Prom King and Andrea became Queen? This also happened to Timothy, becoming romantically involved with someone back in Moonlight Falls at his prom there. I don't know if she became queen, but still....

Becoming romantically involved at prom is totally random. You could easily break them up with the ask to be just friends interaction (under mean) and they should settle down in a few days.

The thing with try for baby is that the jingle doesn't always sound. If they do fall pregnant, however, they will get a guaranteed nauseous moodlet 12 hours later if they are pregnant (unless they have the no nausea/no illness LTR). I normally give it 3 tries, and then if there's no jingle, wait for the moodlet.

I agree with hearing the jingle sound.  It happens more and more lately in my game, more often than not.  I do have them try two or three times and then just wait.  Usually, she is pregnant.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

You can always use the birthday cake test if you don't mind wasting a little money. If she's pregnant she won't be in the list of possibles to age up.

I don't want to count how many times I didn't hear the jingle and then find out she is pregnant later.
One of mine just recently gave birth and I didn't think she had become pregnant, no jingle.  And it was two days later before she ran to the bathroom to throw up.

I can understand the irritation of the romantically involved.  Had a sim who was married and he was talking to another sim to build up charisma skill.  Up pops up that they are attracted to each other and he has the stupid heart for RI.  I had to have him do the mean and ask her to be friends.

Just after the relationship pain in the rear was started I had a sim leave to go and get some skill books.  He comes home to receive a heartbroken wife and distraught family, he was accused of cheating.  Checked and yep, there it showed he had a love interest in a old woman he had never met.

Funny thing, she was also listed as the partner of his twin (MF the O'Sea twins).

Have seen half brothers and half sisters be romantically involved, kissing at a party, gross   :o

As for knowing if she is pregnant you can use the cheat to open up CAS and if it won't let you, the edit sim is greyed out she will be pregnant.  Another if you have WA click for her to travel, she can't if she is pregnant.

One of the reasons I never liked the Imaginary Friend feature was that is was constantly interrupting anything my sim decided to do on free will.

That LTR preventing nausea kinda owned me the first time, because I never thought it'll affect this. Since that time I never buy it for female before the kid(s) are born.

I'm not too fond of the imaginary friends either. Played with one. Never again. When it wasn't distracting my sim from doing homework, it was booby-trapping everything.

On another note:

If you have university, you can use the phone to check if a sim is pregnant. If the "Enroll in University" option is greyed out, then the sim is pregnant. I play with sound off, so I never hear the jingle, and that's helped me plenty of times.
