Installing custom worlds
« on: January 19, 2014, 10:06:57 AM »
So I've followed all the steps listed here:

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=9297.0

The new world shows up when I want to start a new game, but when I select it for the new game, Sims 3 crashes

After I ran my .sims3pack file through Delphy’s Sims3Pack Multi-Extracter, it created 187 .package files which I put into my \Library folder as instructed.

The game still crashes whether I run with all of those .package files in there, or just the biggest one.

I'm not sure what to do now... Can anyone make any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Does the custom world have custom content? It sounds like it does. If the world contains out of date CC it may crash the game, or if you don't have all of the required EPs. Out of curiousity, what is the world? And what are all those packages supposed to be? Lots? Households?

The world is Roaring Heights.

Currently I only have Seasons installed, but I don't know anything about what I'm doing here so as far as what EPs it needs or if there's custom lots or households involved here... your guess is as good as mine

I don't think this method is valid for world files. I normally just install worlds and premium content via the launcher, and for the rest I use Nona's method.

I don't have a world file though, just the 187 .package files I mentioned in the original post

If you bought/downloaded Roaring Heights, then you need to install it as a sims3pack. Find your original sims3pack and install it that way. You can't unpackage worlds to install them. I've tried it your way before (in the hopes of eliminating those aweful pirate boots) and even if you get the .world file and place it in the installed worlds directory, it still doesn't work.

Okay so I figured just double-clicking on the .sims3pack should do it... It's now listed in Downloads in my Launcher, but when I try to install it, it tells me this:

Quote
RoaringHeightsGold.Sims3Pack: Requires a software update.
Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates.
Done!

When I click on Game Updates, it says "Your game is up to date." and Automatic Updates is ticked. Clicking the Refresh button just tells me it's unable to connect to Origin.

Any way I can do a manual update?
