Sims 3 keeps crashing - Mac
« on: July 29, 2016, 10:54:42 AM »
So, about 2 or 3 minutes after loading my game file, my game crashes, every single time I try to play it. The screen blinks, and I get that "exception raised: unhandled page fault on write access to 0x0078a234 at address 0x00400007. Do you wish to debug it?" message (yes, that is the exact message). I tried deleting my cache files, but that didn't help. Should I try a factory reset? Or what else should I try?

Details - I use a 2011 macbook pro that works pretty well, usually. My game has no other problems except for this persistent crashing. I use Origin. EPs: I have seasons, world adventures, generations, late night, and ambitions. I travelled with my sim family to Egypt (my first time traveling in a long time and first time in this game file), which caused a lot of problems and more frequent crashes, but now the crashing is persistent. Any ideas?

I'm afraid that the game is unstable by nature on Mac. This is because of Cider, which allows running the game on Mac, and allows only a ridiculously low 2 GB of memory for the game. You can't change anything about that unless if you make a dual boot with Windows using Bootcamp.

Running the game on Windows 8 or 10 will allow using twice as much memory, and will use much better drivers, which will make your game look prettier, especially if you've got the Pets addon.
