Vampires in the Late Night Expansion
« on: January 03, 2014, 07:16:05 PM »
I read that the vampires can get out of hand with this expansion pack.  When all I really want from the expansion pack is the ability to buy an apartment instead of a regular suburban house.

First, is this true, do the vampires become more a menace than they're worth?  And if so, how does one deal with this?  Basically, how much effect does it have?

Thanks in advance.

In options you can turn off vampire proliferation. They'll still be there, but they won't spread.

I was the same, wanted the LN expansion for the city living and night life. I did originally play with the Vampires, but then there is not a setting for each saved game (unlike Seasons where you can customise each save with the weather). So I found vampires spreading through my other games in other towns. I was toggling between vampires on/off, so they'd be off when playing a different save, but I often would forget and they'd quickly appear. Now I just leave it turned off.

Ok so that's good to know that you can just toggle it off.  Excellent... thanks for the quick responses.  Happy Simming.

The vampires from Late Night aren't any worse than the other life states that have been introduced.  Your Sim won't get followed or stalked or anything like that.  The vampires will be around if you want to interact with them, but they aren't a menace, in my opinion.

I agree with Pam, there's a mixed ratio of all the life states. It's never bothered me at all.

I wouldn't let it put you off getting late night :D

Edited to say: the above applies if you have Supernatural. But they never bothered me with just Late Night either.

You just need patch 1.38 to turn off supernaturals, not Supernatural. :)

I agree with everyone who says that they're not menacing or even that annoying, aside from their tendency to starve to death at parties. Otherwise, they're just pale, sun-averse sims.

I've never had any problems with them taking over the town in Story Progression, or upsetting my sims. In fact, the only issue I had was with my sim's prospective partners turning into vampires before I could bring them into the house. So annoying, but funny at the same time! :D Turn them off in Story Progression if it's a real problem.
