Towns and Townies: Mystery?
« on: October 08, 2010, 10:59:41 PM »
When EA hints that there is mystery to discover within a town, is it only hype? Or is there really something to try to uncover?

Do you mean like when gossip reveals that someone has a horrible secret?  Or that they're really an alien?  I think that's just talk.  I've never found anything else about it.

This kind of hype:

Meet new Sims, discover the world's secrets, and unwind at Barnacle Beach
Explore the mystery hidden in Pirate's Hideaway or meet new Sims at The Wanderer's Watering Hole
Discover the mysterious Barnacle Bay lore by exploring the abandoned piers of Founder's Beach and the relics found within the Goldbeard Galleon Gallery

I've been wondering about that too. I haven't played enough in the town to know if there truly is something to discover, but it would be cool if there was something.

Don't they have some sort of secret underground hideaway in the town?  I think I read something about that on the Sims 3 forum.
I have explored much either - guess I should try that tonight.

In one of the "hideaway" parks there's a stupid little basement-type place with toy pirates chests and nothing of interest.

However, some of the names of empty lots suggest old treasure, and I wonder if it's likely that using a miner might result in something special. I don't want to bother if it's just hype.

Yes, the hideaway is boring, a bed and heaps of remains. Only one of the remains has a name. I wonder if you stayed there when ghosts come out, if you could befriend one and learn anything from them?

Isn't this like the 'mystery' of Don Lothario in Riverview and the 'mystery' of Bella's disappearance? EA (Maxis) usually puts in some histories which you can guess your way to over the span of several Sims games. Maybe EA has something in mind about Barnacle Bay for Sims 4?
