Sims stare at objects for sim-hours before using them
« on: December 12, 2013, 11:25:40 AM »
My sims have a tendency to get really lethargic. I will tell them they need to take a shower, and they will stand in front of their shower for sim-hours, just standing there before they finally get nude and get in. This happens with all kinds of Sim interactions.

I am wondering if this is common? It's something I've just been living with. If they do it too long they just have to go to school or work stinky. :P Or in the most recent, and most annoying case, they won't take a seasonal photo at the festival's photo booth. Ever, even though I tried every day.

I do use the AwesomeMod so do you guys think that could cause it?
My forum name is my cat's name. :3 Trust me, when she was a kitten she was quite mischievous and she earned the name. Though she's not much of a turd any more.

I have this happen a bunch lately with them going to work.  They stand there for hours (SIM hours) and then they are late for work because they just stood there staring at the wall.  It seems to happen more often when it's raining or snowing so I think seasons has something to do with my lazy SIMS.

I don't use any mods but am having the same problem.  My Sims will stand, tapping their foot, looking around, buffing their nails, but not doing what they are qued to do.  They finally do it but lots of Sim time has passed before they actually move.  I have all EP/Sps installed but never had this happen before, even with Seasons.

Do any of you have Lunar Lakes and the Tree of Prosperity installed? It seems to have been causing issues with ungodly lag and sims idling around when it's installed.

More on that here.

Like Trip said, the Tree of Prosperity is the probably the biggest problem, but my game was still a bit glitchy even after removing it. I did a factory reset and it's running beautifully now, which means some other store content was a contributing factor in my game. So even if you don't have the Tree, try doing a factory reset. :)

Ok, so TurdlyPoop, the OP, is me. :P I forgot my username when I posted that. Sorry. :P

Any way, I've been playing the game a bit more, and notice that this usually happens when my sim has to change clothes. Showering, changing diapers, going to bed, etc. They just stand there before doing the changing clothes animation.

Hmmmm. Sometimes, though, it just happens at the photo booth. :P Or when she's supposed to be filling up the dog's bowl.

And I don't have the Tree of Prosperity. Or any store content really.

I don't have Lunar Lake or anything that came with it.  I also do not use any mods other than the one that comes with the game (testingcheatsenabled) because I'm too lazy to be bothered with updating them, lol.

I do have tons of premium content and all the EPs and towns (except LL).

I noticed this problem starting after I got Seasons, it was my last EP and I held out for a very long time because I really hate the rainy season in real life and didn't want to experience it in a game.  However, my love of festivals won out in the end and I got it.  Then the lazy SIM thing started.

I only seem to have this problem when I have Seasons installed. I just assumed it was because I didn't have enough memory on my P.C. but all I do know is that after I followed MoonsAreBlue's instructions on how to do a factory reset in quarter of the time, I didn't have 'lazy' sims anymore.

I had the same problem for quite a while. This link helped me solve it without doing a factory reset: http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,14625.0.html
A factory reset will help with the lagging, but whenever the issue pops up mid-game, that's when the above link comes in handy.

I'm locking this topic because the original poster's name is inappropriate and I have not received a response to my private message asking that it be changed. By locking it, at least this thread will eventually fall to the bottom of the Forum and won't be seen by as many people.
