Homeless Townies?

I was wondering about homeless townies. I've seen the term mentioned a few times, but I'd like to know more about it. Thanks!

The Search box is your friend  I am fairly new on here, and I found pretty much all my questions had been answered already, just type in what you want to know in the search box, and you'll find a few threads on just about anything.
I think homeless townies are mostly NPC's that show up in the game, although I had a Sim marry some guy that was just wandering around, he didn't have a house and his family tree shows nobody but him. He wasn't an NPC, as he was unemployed. I know in my games that a lot of the homeless townies end up as Paparazzi. In my current game, they aren't listed as Paparazzi, but they are names I recognize from other game files as paparazzi.

I think that after you marry an NPC they become unemployed. A playable character can't hold an NPC job,

Each town starts off with its own group of homeless townies, for example Sunset Valley has Dorothy DeMayo, Abraham Finkel, and Sunny Bakshi among others. They don't hold the standard NPC jobs like pizza delivery driver or social worker, but story progression will often have them fill in as venue proprietors and consignment shop merchants, as well as paparazzi. I believe that most (or all) off the resident lists in the Town and Townies board have lists of these sims.
