Toddlers in the future
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:00:30 PM »
Am I missing something?  There doesn't seem to be any facilities (cribs, toys, books, etc)  for toddlers in the Oasis Landing Communtity Center.

That's because children and toddlers can't travel into the future. I'm not sure about teens.

I thought everyone except for pets could travel?

I can't install the game because of a challenge I can only do in pieces, but I thought that was what I read.

The way I understood it was that you can decide to permanently stay in the future, if you wanted, which would include having children, wouldn't it? Can anyone verify this? I have not been able to play the EP yet.

My little Sarah, a fairy toddler, crawled in and went to the future but there was no crib for her. I went ahead a put a fairy house in for all my fairy descendants.

I neglected to say that the whole family went at the same time.  Brad (Adult) used the goto with..... Option and I selected all four of them including the toddler and the teen.

Hello! I think you have to purchase the items for the baby and toddlers. I sent my current family into the future and they had just had a newborn. You can go into buy mode when you get to the future too, I saw a futuristic crib, but I didn't check for other items. Hope this helps :)

I must have read something wrong, then. Glad to hear the whole family can go; but in that case it does seem odd that they wouldn't provide anything for the young'uns.

I found a crib, high chair, and toy box in buy mode.  I switched to collection view and they're down towards the bottom of the Into The Future collection after the decorative statues.

Anyone can go to the future. You just need to have an adult trigger the time travel. So a teen or child wouldn't be able to go alone.

Well, anyhow, she's grown up now but it seems like a weird omission if you ask me. One could simply pack up the nursery into the family storage box when getting ready to leave.  After all, my sims like to take their own beds to college in this way.

If you bring a toddler into the future, will there be a nanny available when your Sim goes to town? Just like in normal times?

I've been playing Banana Dreamweaver and her family in the future.  The Community Center doesn't have anything for babies or toddlers, but you can access Buy Mode just like you can when you own the property.  I set up the very top floor for the parents and put a crib in their room along with whatever else they needed.  I used the area outside the bedroom door for toys.  When they moved to their own house, they could bring everything with them in the family inventory and set it up in the new house.  The mother in this case was from the present and she married someone in the future (Asher Dunes).  Her pregnancy and labor was the same as always.  They raised their daughter through the toddler years and then traveled back to the present.  No problems with any of it.

I also brought a toddler who was born in the present into the future.  She had no problems at all and life was the same as in the present.  A teen babysitter came to the house when the mother had to run errands.  One thing that was interesting to me is that the mother and toddler had different sets of descendants.  But when I thought about it, it made sense.  The toddler's life is separate and different from her mother's.  Her mother's descendants are technically also her descendants, but she's also got another family there that descends from the toddler and whoever she ends up marrying.

I found a crib, high chair, and toy box in buy mode.  I switched to collection view and they're down towards the bottom of the Into The Future collection after the decorative statues.

The baby furniture and toys are located in the usual place in Buy Mode.  Everything you have installed is available, just like in the present.
