Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place!

Basically I need to reinstall my game but I want to save the Sims and clothes I have created, which files do I need to back up?
I have been searching everywhere for an answer to this but all I can find is how to backup saved games and I don't want that, I just need to know which files are related to the sims/clothes I've made!

Hope you can can, thank you!
Aille

Welcome to the forum, Aille!

Well, from my experience Saved Sims always ends up in SavedSims folder.

You can look about this in:
My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/SavedSims

I only know about Sim, I ever reinstall my game from the scratch because I had a new computer and them I just try to copy all item in SavedSims from my older computer and paste them to SavedSims folder in the new computer and voila I can access all of my created Sims in CAS. But I don't know about the clothes. But there is SavedOutfits folder for you to consider, maybe it works the same like SavedSims, but I don’t know about that.

Oh, before I forget. There also Library folder for you to consider, just copy and paste all content inside the folder to new Library folder to access created Sims in the family bin. I have tried this before so, I know :)

Maybe other can help. Good luck!

I'm moving this thread to Technical Help.

Your other alternative is to export all your stuff and save that -- that is another way around it. I'm on my iPad at the moment so I can't show you how but I am sure someone will come around and show you. :)

Also, in your The Sims 3 folder, you should have aa file called UserPresets.package, if you save that your custom recolours et al should be saved.

And also, welcome to the forum!

Hi Allie,

I'm not sure if this will help, but the post below does give some idea of what Sims files and what-not to back up.
