The Collection: This is the collection for the matriarchs and patriarchs who have done so much and deserve to grow old gracefully. Hip, but dignified. Comfortable, but not slouchy. Cool, not clownish. Full of meticulous detail, inspired pattern combination, and sumptuous, classy colors. They've worked endless hours, achieving unimaginable success in their professions, amassing amazing collections, completing strange challenges. Along the way, they've whirled their share of babies into clean diapers, too. Jaws should drop onto the floor everywhere for what these sims have done and become. Haven't they earned the privilege of looking good in their retirement? Put them in clothes you yourself would want to wear when you're their age. Don't make them suffer the embarrassment of bland leisure suits or tacky ensembles. Put them in The 'Atriarch.
The Venables, a retired politician and artist, have graciously volunteered to model Clementine's 2013 'Atriarch fashion collection for elders.
For everyday, something classy but cool - not too formal, but no sweats for your deserving pair:
For formalwear, we go for classic black paired with purples that are vibrant without edging into the ridiculous. His straddles the line between avant garde and traditional (he wore it to the opening of his big show at MoMA); hers is elegant but with a slightly daring mix of florals (she wore it to her last inaugural ball).
For exercise, think artsy and cool. Definitely not going to show too much skin at their age; the emphasis is on comfort combined with eye-catching color and pattern combinations.
In swimwear, his is a world-traveler's pattern in innovative colors, and hers evokes the glamour of yesteryear without looking ho-hum dated.
For sleepwear, we have comfy robes in vintage patterns but with a modern color palette.
The outerwear is the ultimate example of The 'Atriarch Collection's aesthetic: a touch of vintage, some whimsy, a hint of world traveler - but classy all around.
