How Limiting is the Commitment Issues Trait?
« on: August 26, 2010, 10:44:07 PM »
When considering possible mates for a dynasty founder, I've come across several with the Commitment Issues trait. In what manner and to what degree does this trait affect actual gameplay, in your experience?

How difficult is it to marry a sim with this trait? What about moving them into your home?

It can make them random at accepting proposals but many people have wooed Hank Goddard for legacies so they are not that bad, just playing hard to get.  :D

I agree. I got my Sim to catch Marc Brandt in Twinbrook.

The difficulty of getting a Sim with the Commitment Issues trait to marry your Sim, without moving them in first, might be relative to the other traits that Sim has. For example, a family-oriented or hopeless romantic or flirty Sim with CI might be easier to marry than say a grumpy or loser Sim with CI. I think, overall, the two big things that matter are the relationship between the two Sims and their moods.

My general game play, if I know the other Sim has CI, is to invite them over in the morning (well-rested) and then run through the romantic interactions until they accept or reject. If they reject, I try once or twice more. If that doesn't work I try to get them into a better mood - feed them, give them a chance to use the bathroom, do some sort of fun activity.

It has been done, can be done, sometimes it just takes a little (or a lot) more work. Good luck.

When sims 3 first came out I started playing Don Lothario in Riverview.  He mostly had no wishes for engagement or marriage but I made a girl just for him and he rolled a wish to be in a stable relationship, which stunned me.  So it is a do-able thing.  Like the other poster said, it may take a little extra work.

Maybe try some of that French incense and see if it helps woo the commitment-shy guy.

Unless it's a lucky find at the consignment shop, no incense for dynasty founders until they're elders.

Right, but in my game the French incense turns up with great regularity, so I don't think you should have to wait too long for it.  I've never seen either of the other types of incense at the consignment store.

Good idea. I'd forgotten which one showed up there.
