Consignment store stuck glitch
« on: November 20, 2013, 07:35:35 PM »
I read the consignment guide carefully and my painter sim went on very well. Well I'm still not sure if selling the same items would decrease the price.
Later I started a new sim as a detective with born salesman trait and the seller reward. Every day, I go to the store, spending as much of my money as possible first and go to the consignment store to sell all of them. As everyone could expect, my money is multipled by 1.7 approximately, 1.6 at least every day. ( I didn't cancel the consign before 5 pm as the guide suggested because that would be so tiring since I  have to cancel one by one) It worked quite well and I personally thought it's the best way to make money without cheats or mods until I owned more than 30,000 Simoleons. With such amount of money, I consigned about 1,700 items.
Guess what happened? From that day on, the consignment store stopped working! No money came since then and the date of all the items are frozen so they are not going to be sent back. I don't think I would cancel them by clicking mouse 3,400 times.

Any idea? Please help.

You could try replaced the consignment register or the whole store in edit town.

Thank you. I tried, but failed. I not only replaced one, but also built another myself. I realized that the consignment data isn't with the building. What a pity, hope someone know cheats or mods about this.

Welcome to our Forum, Miu.

Are you saying that you already tried to replace the Consignment Store register?  You got a new one using Buydebug?

I'm not quite familiar with the world edit. I did it in this way: I sold the register, and bought a new one in ambitions pack; later I changed a residing place into a consignment store and built a counter and a register, while next day when the specialist came I still have the option cancel consignment with about 1,700 items in it. Did I do it right?

Unfortunately, changing the register, or the store will not cancel the consignments.  I am afraid that, as far as I know, the only way is to cancel each assignment individually.

This is the main drawback to consigning large numbers of low value items.  I fell into that trap myself some time ago, but fortunately I had only a few hundred items.  We need a "cancel all" button!

You really do need to keep an eye on your consignments, never allow anything to reach day 0 as all sales stop if any item goes into minus.  Once stopped, the only way to restart sales is to remove everything and sell it either through the grocery store or direct from inventory and start with a clean slate and items which were not represented in your cancelled items list.   Example, if you had sculptures consigned then do not consign sculptures again until you have sold another category such as paintings.

Thank you, Wai. I started to cancel them. When I finished about one fourth (I guess) , an idea came to me: with the latest update, we can move to a new town. So I had a try after save, and fortunately I could consign again. Losing friends wasn't big deal for me, since I'm charismatic attractive and single. I'm now starting a test, to figure out the max of consign. If I get useful information, I'll post on money making part.
By the way, when I edit the town, once I turned the consignment store into residential. I got about 70,000 from this edit, but I didn't realize until I moved, so I didn't go further.

Ok, now I get it. After I moved to the new town, I started to consign again. It's actually free at first. I could consign no matter how many ( the most I tried once was 5X999) in the first four days, and no problem appeared.
The issue came on the 5th day, Thursday, the day on which those items unsold should be returned. So, because of the too large amount, the returning process couldn't be done and all the rest can't be consigned. So we could only use this way to burst money by 1.7 for four times in a town, then we have to move. Hope the sims 4 is going to be released with less bugs. What's worth mentioning is that every day when it came to 5 pm the game would be stuck for about 1 or 2 second on my computer, maybe the same reason.
I personally still consider the marriage with rich sim a more steady way to make money.
