age to travel through time?
« on: November 08, 2013, 02:19:46 PM »
soo... my plan was to have my rich, promiscuous movie star travel to the future, have a baby, and come back to the present to raise the baby.  that all went according to plan... except that she can't re-enter the time portal with the infant.

it's not that big a deal to wait until the infant ages up into a toddler... but i don't want to wait much beyond that; i've spent a fair amount of time and money creating a nannybot and setting up a nursery back in the present.

so before i spend the next couple hours in futility, does anyone know the minimum age to travel through time?  i poked through a couple threads in here that referenced the fact that there are no schools, etc, so that doesn't bode well...

should i just reload from before i went forward in time (thank you twallan!), go BACK TO THE FUTURE!! (<-- i've been waiting this whole post to throw that in somewhere : ), get knocked up again, then come back to the present while pregnant?

... or is this all still very experimental, and y'all are waiting on me to try these things? : )

I don't think I did anything special, but I did have a couple come back from the future with a baby. They left it on the ground at home, so I wasn't sure they would, but it turned up again on the floor once they arrived back in the present. They did own a house there, which might have made a difference, but I can't think of anything else.

oh.  well, thanks for that information!

i ended up reloading, got pregnant, came back, and everything went fairly well.  the mother had a PERFECT pregnancy, but i was only able to choose one trait (the other was "artistic", so i guess that's not so bad... but it's not what i wanted).

now i have a problem in that the plumbot nanny DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF THE INFANT!!  i didn't realize, but the poor kid was within 2 hrs of starving to death because the stupid robot didn't do THE ONLY JOB SHE HAS.  this is really really frustrating.  it basically ruins the entire little story i have been developing for three days (real life days).

did they ever play-test this before releasing it?  i'm finding bug after bug after bug with this thing.  i realize it's a complicated game, but it seems like EA doesn't even own up to it.  they've got our money, and the rest is our problem.

EDIT:  this is the same plumbot that had a birthday.  and turned invisible.  and with whom i can have woohoo.  soo... yeah.  play-testing.

Some of your issues may be to do with using mods. I start out with any new ep playing without them and I have had no problems with plumbots looking after kids or doing any other job. There certainly are bugs, but I haven't seen many in my games.
