Gardening bug
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:18:17 AM »
Not sure if this has been posted before, I did do a quick search but nothing came up.

I've just noticed a potential gardening bug and wondered if anybody else has come across it. Yesterday I had my sim attend to his garden as usual and he harvested quite a few plants (including some of the rarer grapes). Went into his inventory to transfer the produce into his fridge and there was nothing there. Simply disappeared into the black hole of this inventory.

So my question is, has anybody else experienced this? If so, is it a bug and will it repeat itself again? Bit useless having a garden if you can't do stuff to it, and I really don't want to have to start again (for the third time). Maybe it's the game's way of punishing my female sim for stealing a married male sim who had children! ???

Yikes!  I would say that is a bug for sure.  I have had 1 or 2 pieces of fruit or veggies go missing when transferring from inventory to fridge or vice-a-verse, but nothing like what you have described.  Do you have another sim on the same lot that could try harvesting to see if it is your particular sim?  I hope this gets worked out for you.

Thanks for replying wildredchild. I haven't played sims since posting my message. Been a bit busy with work and looking after my boyfriend, who recently had an op on his ankle so he's severly limited in what he can do.

I'll give it a try with another sim. Also maybe closing down the game and restarting might solve it. I really don't want to start this particular game all over again as I've already done it once. Hopefully if it is a bug it's only limited to the one sim, in which case out he goes, and start a search again for another husband.

I keep my harvest in a Chest, I only keep good stuff like 60 Life Fruits, 50 Flame fruits and 210 cheeses as that's all my sim grows.  :D But if you put it straight where it won't have a bugs to remove them I vote that option, and it frees more space in your inventory. So don't close the inventory before transferral if you want to put it in a fridge!

Also check your family inventory as I have had produce show up there when it didn't show up in my sims personal inventory.  A few times I had produce and a few fish show up in the room behind the refrigerator and, for some strange reason, under the frig (didn't discover this until I moved the frig as I was upgrading to a better one).  Books show up the same way for me sometimes - on the floor or in the next room. :)
If they are in your family inventory, you will have to place them all over the ground/floor then manually drag them to your sim's inventory or directly into the refrigerator.
Hope you can find them  ;D.

That is a good idea, but it has to go in the personal inventory first, so if it is not there after they harvest the crop, you can't put it in a chest anyway.  Did that make sense, lol. ;D

Well if you keep the inventory open at all times and don't close I think you should be safe.

I've had items dissapear before when moving them to the fridge, for example, and them reappear under the fridge. This time though they weren't in his personal inventory, even before I tried moving them. Re-starting hasn't worked. However I haven't tried the family inventory. However he has harvested since and they did appear in his personal inventory. So hopefully it was a one-off.

Well, as many people replied, it could be bug.

Otherwise, double, triple-check it since in my case, it was always near fridge where I couldn't find easily.

Like just next tile of fridge, or behind it.

If not,, just I'm so sorry for that, too :'(
