Paying bills in an apartment- Solved

Hello, I just got Late Night (yeah, I know, I'm a bit late XD).  I have a city dweller who lives in a penthouse.  She has the money to pay bills, but every time I try to have her pay them, it doesn't work... anyone ever had this issue before?

What exactly is happening?

A little thought bubble comes up and it's the picture of going somewhere with a circle and line through it.  I'm assuming it means that she can't go there, but I'm not sure why.  It might just be a glitch, but I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong.  I've tried having her go pick up the bills from her penthouse and having her just pay them directly at the mailboxes, but neither works.

Are you using one of the original apartments in Bridgeport?  You should be able to click the mailbox on the ground floor and select Pay Bills, just like with a street mailbox in the other towns.  Are you able to click on the mailbox at all?

Yeah, I can click on it, and I do, constantly.  But she keeps getting the "I can't go there" thought bubble.  So I don't know what's going on.  I'm having to use the option to pay bills at the last minute.  Which works, but it didn't come up the first time and I have had an issue before where it doesn't come up all the time... so until I can figure out why she can't pay her bills, guess I'll have to keep hoping XD  But I am curious to know if this is a game glitch or I'm just missing a step.  There's a second option where it says to get bills from the Cartwright penthouse.  But the same thought bubble appears.  There's nothing blocking the way as far as I can tell.  And she can go down to the lobby fine.

EDIT: Ok, solved it by moving the mailbox to a different wall.  Weirdest thing I've ever had with a pre-built building that actually came with the Sims XD

I'm having the same issue except it won't let me move the mailbox. It's saying the same thing - that she can't go to the mailbox. She makes the frustrated grunts and everything. I'm not sure what to do because I don't want to get my stuff repo-ed. Is there another way to pay bills?

Welcome to the forum intentkitten.

Just a quick question, you used the control+shift and typed testingcheatsenabled true and right click the ground to "build on lot" option to see if you could move the mailbox to another wall?

If the above did not work, have you tried evicting your family to the edit town screen and reloading them into your penthouse to see if that helps?  Or you can try to bulldoze the penthouse and replace it with the same one (be sure to check the penthouse is in the community lots. If it isn't there, save the penthouse first so you can replace it. Be sure to save your game file first before attempting to do this.

I know this is an old thread but for the information of anyone reading who has the same problem the easiest solution is to use the cheat to remove restrictions on moving objects and then move the mailbox to an alternate wall.

While playing the game, press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + C to display the console window. Then, type one of the following codes and press [Enter] to activate the corresponding cheat function. Note: In Windows Vista you may need to press [Ctrl] + [Windows] + [Shift] + C to display the console window.

Then type moveObjects on and press enter.

This should allow you to pick up the mailbox and voila!

I seem to be having similar problems now, too. My mailbox keeps saying no interactions, yet then I get the pop-up saying one day to pay bills. I'm also having issues with the lights in the hallway and foyer of the apartment, they have stopped working, so I keep getting the "It's Dark" moodlet. I did the cheat where you can edit outside the apartment, and moved the lights and set them to on, and they worked for a bit, but now they don't work again. Would move objects cheat work better to fix them and my mailbox? It's a premade apartment, I only altered the windows, but the lights etc weren't working before I did that.
