... Not one person stepped inside to even look...

I'm curious which town you are playing in. I've found this to be true on many of the community lots in Midnight Hollow. Not mant residents to interact with are out and about. This is especially true on "double lots" like the grocery store/diner.

I was in Riverview, but have since found that the problem is with the set itself. It seems if you want customers on a private lot, you have to keep throwing parties. Once I setup the store on a community lot, I had plenty of customers.

Something funny is I accidentally used one of the 'seller' rugs as a rug in my sim's house.  Now he autonomously goes to where the rug is to 'browse' any time I'm not having him do something.  Luckily there is nothing on the rug, so he couldn't 'buy' anything.

I'm not sure I understand how to set up a shop.  Let's say my sim lives in Monte Vista.  I have the Savvy Seller set.  How do I buy a commercial lot in Monte Vista to set up a store plus have my sim's house?  If I buy an empty lot, do I then have to build a store from scratch? (walls, floors, etc)  Any clarification would be appreciated.  Thanks.
