Launcher Won't Install Store Content — Mac
« on: November 26, 2015, 10:21:24 AM »
Hello!
Sorry if this isn't the right place to put this— I'm a little bit of an on-and-off poster here, and I seem to recall a board specifically for technical issues of Mac users, but for some reason I couldn't find it.
My issue is my launcher refuses to install store content. It downloads store content just fine, and my game runs perfectly fine, too, but the minute I try to install/uninstall any of my downloaded content, I receive the error message, "Unable to start game. Service initialization failed (0x065d0274)". This seems to be a popular issue, and I've tried just about every fix on the internet: clearing caches, deleting my missingdeps.idx file, attempting to delete the downloadedsims.index file (I didn't have one). Nothing works! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a different fix. I own all EPs minus ITF and Seasons, and the SPs HELS, Master Suite, Sweet Treats, Movie Stuff, Outdoor Living, and Town Stuff. I do run my game with limited CC, but only .package files and no mods. All my CC appears to be working correctly. It seems I've exhausted every other solution out there for fixing my launcher. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We actually don't have a separate forum for Mac users.

This seems to be a common issue and since it sounds like you've exhausted all other options, best bet maybe to backup your Sims 3 folder and reinstall the game. Run Ccleaner and it's registry after you've uninstalled.

Unable to start game. Service initialization failed (some number).

Ccleaner For Mac (It's Free)

Hope this helps, :)

MrsFlynn,
Thank you for your suggestion. After uninstalling my games and running CCleaner, my store content seems able to download again. I've only reinstalled the base game so far, but I'm sure it will continue to work as I reinstall my other packs. Once again, thank you for your help!
