Can't play saved game in an edited world
« on: September 13, 2013, 03:33:22 AM »
Hi, I don't know if I'm in the right section so feel free to move this thread :)

I recently edited a custom world. Exported it, installed it in the game and tried it. Everything works fine and saved the game. But when I tried to play the saved game, it says that the saved game cannot be played because an expansion pack used to save this game in no longer available in your system (something like that i think). So I tried to play a new game using the same world I edited and everything works fine and saved the game. But when I tried to play the saved game, same thing happens. I'm really confused as to why the world is playable to use in a new game but the world is unplayable in a saved game.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it from the exportation? Is there something wrong when I edited the world? Any advice or tip is more appreciated. :)

I see this post is a little old, but since no one has replied to it, I wanted to give the solution that worked for me just in case someone else has this happen to them and they are looking for a solution.

For me, the problem was that I used a punctuation mark in the name of the world file before exporting it.  Simple as that.  Something apparently causes issues within the game when you use punctuation in the CAW World File name.

So, what I would try first is to go back into CAW, where you add/edit the description of the world, and rename it using only letters and spaces.  Then save, export and install it in your game and test it out.

This solved that problem for me with out having to do anything else.  I hope this helps! :)
