Ok, I thought I saw this mentioned somewhere before, but I searched the forum and the site and I couldn't find it. Anyway, in my Legacy challenge, my founder's hubby died ( :'() and what was left was an urn, not a headstone. I know there's a reason for this, but I don't know what it is. Is there anyway that I can change it from an urn to a head stone? It'd kind of ruin the look of my graveyard if it's just an urn sitting ont he ground.... :-\

Yeah, I don't have a lot of experience with dead sims in Sims 3 but in Sims 2 it was an urn inside and a gravestone outside the house. It may not always work that way in this game, I don't know.

Have you tried moving it?

Like they said, when it first appears inside it's an urn. But when you move it to your graveyard, it will turn into a tombstone.

Confirming what Cel said.  If they die indoors, it's an urn.  Outdoors, it's a gravestone.  When you pick it up, it will be a gravestone in your inventory and also when you place it on the ground in the cemetary.

Oh perfect!

I haven't moved it outdoors yet....will be doing that tonight. I don't want the ghost around anymore.
Thanks! ;D

The ghost will continue to appear as long is the grave is anywhere on your lot, whether it's inside or outside.  You've got a couple of options if you don't want the ghost around.   You can take the grave to the town cemetary and place it somewhere that you can still find it easily.  The ghost will haunt the cemetary, but won't come to your house.  Or you can convert a public lot to a private cemetary for just your family.  That's what I did with my Dreamweaver Legacy family.  The lot across the street from their home was a fishing spot with a bridge.  I used Edit Town to put a white iron fence with a gate, benches, flowers, etc. on the lot.  Then I would just place gravestones inside the white fence whenever someone died.  The family is currently in its 11th or 12th generation and the family cemetary is quite full.  The ghosts come out every night and do their thing, even leaving in cars, but they don't haunt the family's home.

Awesome info Pam. It does make perfect sense that it would change I guess. Good info for the ghost guide, which I think I might start right now!

I read this somewhere within the sight but, when you died indoors it's a urn. When you died outside it's a gravestone. I don't think the urn can go to the cemetery but the head stone can.  :P

It becomes a headstone when you put it in your inventory and it can go to the cemetary no problem.
