Did you actually register the game and then go into the sims3 site and go to your account?  I know I got the runaround for about an hour and then all of a sudden, I finally got it.  Sometimes it can be a pain.

I don't understand? I got the game, activated it etc. and then today I got the internet on my new laptop that I use for the Sims 3. So after I got the internet, went on TS3 website, signed up with serial number, tried to download Riverview, failed, activated my email address, didn't get SimPoints, tried to download Riverview again, failed. :(

If you actually go into your account, there will be options that you choose.  You want to choose "my account", mine also said "redeem points", but you actually have to go to your account.  Also, when you download Riverview, did you go to the downloader and actually download your new town into the game.  I know this is confusing and I am trying to explain it the best way I can.  I am probably making it worse.

I clicked download on the Sims 3 website, it started downloading, the launcher came up, and after a second, an error occurred, and the same error happened about 10 times :S

Add: I've tried IE, Google chrome and Firefox - to no avail :P

I have been thinking and trying to come up with something for you, but I just can't seem to grasp it.  Will let you know and maybe someone else can help.  Good luck and am sorry I could not help.

Keep trying Jenny. When I was getting Riverview, it took several attempts before it was successful. If I recall, I too didn't get my sim points straight away and I had to click redeem points to get them.

**edit** When you go to the launcher is Riverview actually listed there? If so, click on it and delete it before you try to download it again.

I've had a problem with Riverview since I reinstalled my games. I downloaded it again, my launcher says it's installed, if I go into the game files it shows up there but it won't appear in the drop down menu when I want to start a new game.

@ RunAmokeSims, I have the very same problem since my last wipe and install when Ambitions came out.  I have not been able to get any on my previously purchased items, nor my free items to download into my game.  Always get that error code.  Funny thing is, I can download all the lots that everyone is creating here to my game no problem.  They download and then install no problem.  I am just trying to hang in there until I get this one challenge done, then I am going to do a total wipe and install again before starting any more challenges.

OK, not sure if this will help Jenny, but it might be useful for RunAmokSims.

This dates back to July last year when I was installing a user created world, but had problems with Riverview too. This is just a copy of my post back then about how I got it to work. Copying the file and renaming it just might work for you (if you are confident with doing that sort of thing.

Original post by me (on another forum)
My main problem was with Riverview. I had to download it twice before I could get it to install and then had to have a number of trys to actually install it. Now it comes up in my Sims 3 Game Launcher as installed, but still does not show up in the game. Because of this, ####'s Riverviews would not work either. So then I found the post about world files (sorry - can't remember who it was) anyway, I went into mydocuments/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Installed Worlds and found in there a Riverview.tempworld file. So I made a copy (to be safe) and renamed it Riverview.world and put it back in to that folder. Now while I still don't have the poplulated Riverview, I can play ####'s versions.
So if anyone has had trouble with the Riverview download, I would suggest having a look in the Installed Worlds folder to see if you at least have the tempworld file.

**update - was just reading the sims3 forum to see if others were having the same prob and some are. One suggestion (and so basic) was to uninstall Riverview and re-install it. I did that and now I have all versions of it including the populated one. So I would suggest anyone having problems with the download of Riverview to keep trying.. eventually you may get it!

@twinmum

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Riverview so many times I lost count. It's really all OK because I think I only ever played a game or two there. I wasn't that fond of Riverview. It's just the grrrrrr factor of something that should be there and isn't.
