Hairstyles only for particular outfits

I want to use a particular hair (well actually it's a hat) for my Sim's athletic outfit but it only seems to be available for the everyday outfit. Is there a cheat (not mod) or something that will allow me to use it for athletic wear?

(I hope the title isn't confusing. I couldn't think of a better way to put it.)

I'm not sure if this will work but you could try using the 'unlockoutfits on' cheat.

There are just some hairstyles that aren't available for every outfit.  That same hairstyle probably isn't available for nightwear, either.  I'm unaware of anything to get around this.

Grr... can't put a woolly hat on Jules MacDuff's everyday outfit even though he looks more than cute in that...
