Lagging/freezing

Just recently my game started slowing down. Even the triple speed is slow. And it pauses every now and then - frequently (like, every half hour of game time?) and stays like that for maybe 5 (real) seconds (during which I cannot click anything) before unpausing and letting me click again. It is very frustrating. It has only just started happening - within the last day of game play - and considering that this is the only save I play, it's quite annoying. I just finished moving all my families from Sunlit Tides to Isla Paradiso, and built some new community lots. I played 3 (sim) days in Isla Paradiso before this pausing started. I've deleted all the backup cache stuff, and done a factory reset, to no avail. I can go back to an earlier save if necessary (I really hope I have one from just after the move EDIT: yes! I do! ) but I'm hoping there's an easier solution. Anyone got any ideas?

Lots of thanks to Mrs Flynn for the idea that seems to have fixed my game: resetsim. I did a big resetsim on everyone at once (resetsim *) and though my game is not perfect, it is running a lot more smoothly and I am very happy.

I'm glad you found something to help, Pally.  My game does this same thing sometimes and it helps to restart the game for me.  Also, are you playing in full screen mode or windows mode?  I go with windows and it helps with lags and such.

Thanks Pam. I restarted the game many times but it didn't seem to help. I am glad that it is working now though! I play in full screen, so maybe I'll try windows mode if this happens again. I have just found in the past that tabbing out of the game and back into it (with the windows key) can play havoc with the game and make it crash, so that would be my main worry with windows mode. But thanks for the suggestion! I'm very glad to have found such a quick solution!
