Problems with Sims not aging
« on: August 05, 2013, 08:20:17 PM »
Similar to other aging bugs, my sims stopped aging randomly. It started in a game where I had a family with a toddler and twin infants. I think it started when the first child was born. I waited the normal time but she still wasn't aging up, so I aged her up with a cake. Now I can't age her up with cake at all (she doesn't appear in the list for Blow Out Candles). The infants also don't age at all, as the age bar remains unfilled. The adults will age by a day each time I reload the game, but then they won't age anymore as I play them.

I thought it might just be the game I was playing, so I switched to another file. The same problem persisted, even with a young adult who had 0 days till age up.

I have Supernatural, Late Night, University, Pets, and Generations. I have no mods, and already uninstalled all my EA store content. I've tried a couple other methods discussed in various forums such as turning aging progression on and off, with no effect.

Please help! I'll be forever grateful.

Well, have you tried evicting the family and moving them back in? That occasionally works for me with some problems.
If you are playing with cheats you could try typing in'testingCheatsenabled true' shift-clicking on you Sim and triggering age transition/editing them in CAS and going up to the next age. I hope this helps!

I've encountered this same problem in some of my game files.  I haven't found a way to actually fix the bug, but Gulliver the Cat!'s suggestions are good ones to find a workaround.

Thanks, the cheat code seemed to work. Looks like I'm going to have to stick with that for now. Unfortunately, I don't think I can ship the kids off to boarding school (they'll never come back!) but that's a fair compromise to keep playing this family. I've grown pretty attached to them! Thanks again for the help!

I've had kind of a similar problem. My young adult/adult sims age until about 1 or 2 days before their birthday, then they stay there for an extra day before they start aging again. I don't know if that made any sense to anybody but has anyone else had this issue?

Related to most recent patch?

I think the last patch is what messed up my game.

Now I'm having errors where my sims go to do opportunities but then it says they didn't do the task. For example, one of my teens had two school projects where she had to go to places and do research. Both times I sent her and she completed the research but then I get an alert saying that she never went? It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to do the reset trick (if I can figure it out).

Is anyone else having issues since the new patch?

This is actually off-topic for this thread, which is about Sims not aging properly.  Normally I would say to start a new topic for it, but in this case I don't think you will find any real help for it.  The patches often cause something to go wrong in the game and there's nothing to be done for it except to wait for the next patch that fixes it.  You can also find topics already in place about the patches and might find some insight there.
