I'm not sure what block you are talking about. There are a lot of islands in Twinbrook. Can you be more specific as to where. what do you mean by the lot that is free? Are you in Edit Town or what?

Edit: Do you mean free as in available? Are you talking about the empty block at 10 Poker Flats Drive? To build on it, or any empty block, you can do one of two things. You can have a sim buy the block and move there and then go into build mode and build or if you want to build without a sim living there, then go into Edit Town, select the block then click build/buy and from there you can build a house.

Snowy,

Did Twinmum help?

I was confused for a while myself, with "empty" lots (lots with no houses on them). I think that may be part of the confusion you are having.

Hollar back if you need more assistance, Snowy.

Hi snowy.

I think you'll need to give a lot more information to get some help.  Building houses can be very complicated and we don't know exactly what you're trying to do and where you're running into trouble.

I think what you mean is build without moving a family in?

Go to Edit Town Mode through the ... menu. Then click ont he Lot icon of the one you want and an Info tab should open up, there should be a button which looks like the Build/Buy ones click that and you can build on that lot without moving anyone in and you get unlimited money to build with.

Hope this helps, if it is what you mean't?

Snowy,

I don't know if you do or don't have any Sims living in the house, it doesn't sound like you do. But just to build on 10 Poker Flats, try this.

(1) Start up the game, and click "New Town" then "Twinbrook" (this won't affect any of your saved games, now).
(2) Use the "..." (Options Menu) on the control puck and select "Edit Town".
(3) Click on "10 Poker Flats" and once it's selected, click on the "Build / Buy" button.
(4) Work on the house, as you normally would.
(5) When you are satisfied, on the "..." you need to go back to "Edit Town".
(6) Click the lot again, and save a copy of "10 Poker Flats" to the Library, with the "Save Copy to Library Button".

Now you've a copy of the house in your game's Library, where you can place it into any game you are playing (as long as the lot size works).

Hope this helps, if not ... I can post some pictures. As Pam mentioned, if you're having trouble with specific building issues, you'll need to provide much more detail in your question.

I can do that. That is not what I am asking. I want to know how to build with columns as the lot does at Poker Flats.

Ah. :D

The columns on those houses are portions of the Foundation.

The foundation tool was used to make a big Foundation, then portions of the foundation where removed, and then the "constrainFloorElevation true" cheat looks like it's been used a bit to mess with their heights.

I'm not an expert builder, and frankly I'm not sure where to point you on the Forum here for more help using that cheat.

There is no need to use the constrainfloor cheat. All you need to do is use the foundation tool as HappyTime said and just use the sledgehammer tool to remove all but where you want pillars. Then just build your house on top. If you want the house up higher than what the foundation will build, just raise the ground level in one spot first and start the foundation on the high bit.
