Question about money cheats

I have one household that I play with the name "Fortin" then I moved some of the young adult kids out and named the other household "Fortin kids" and I switch back and forth but I'm having problems using the money cheats with the "Fortin kids" household.  It doesn't seem to be working.  I type it in exactly like its supposed to be - familyfunds Fortin kids 1000000 but for some reason it seemed to take all the money from the "Fortin" household.

When I went back to play the "Fortin" household the money was down to $0 and my sim must have known what was going on and knew he was broke because he happened to be talking to a friend in his house and I saw the interaction say "worry about money."  Isn't that something lol!

Is there any way I can change a family name because I think when I named my other household "Fortin kids" its too close to the original name maybe?

I've never done it myself, but I think household names with a space in them require quotation marks for the money cheats to work (so it'd be something like: familyfunds "fortin kids" 10000).  I don't think it should be taking money from the old household at all, though, so I'm not sure why they're broke.

If familyfunds isn't working no matter how you do it you can always use the cheat 'motherlode'.  It's a flat 50k simoleons each time you enter it.

Yes, that's easy to do. Just go to Edit town mode, click on Fortin kids household to bring up their info window, and then click on the little notepad and pen in the right bottom corner. Now you can change their name to Fortinkids, without the space between the words. That should do the trick, and make the familyfunds cheat work again. You can of course name them something entirely different if you don't like the name Fortinkids without blank in the middle.
